Global Coverage: Provides free access to over 2,000 SLM practices from more than 100 countries, in a standardized, comparable format.
Supporting Action: Facilitates the design of interventions, evidence-based decision-making, knowledge exchange, and the scaling of proven solutions for restoration, biodiversity conservation and climate change adaptation.
Knowledge partner of UNCCD and its stakeholders: Engages with UNCCD and its Parties and actors to share and promote their SLM solutions through standardized reporting and facilitate uptake of proven practices.

The Global SLM Database is recognized by the UNCCD as the primary recommended database for sharing knowledge and good practices on SLM (Decision 17/COP.11). This recognition has been reaffirmed through Decision 19/COP.14, Decisions 11 and 19/ COP.15 and Decision 18/COP.16, which encourage Parties to contribute good practices and support continued collaboration between the UNCCD Secretariat and WOCAT.
