The Global Sustainable Land Management (SLM) Database provides free access to field-tested SLM practices from around the world and offers stakeholders involved in the implementation of SLM projects and interventions, including restoration, biodiversity conservation and climate change, to share their good practices. The dataset provides valuable knowledge to design interventions, support evidence-based decision-making, scale up good practices and facilitate exchange, thereby contributing to avoid and reduce land degradation and restore degraded land.
In 2014, following Decision 17/COP.11, the WOCAT Database was recognized as the primary recommended database for UNCCD stakeholders to exchange knowledge and best practices on SLM. In Decision 19/COP.14, Decisions 11 and 19/ COP.15 and Decision 18/COP.16, Parties were encouraged to provide good practices to the Database and the UNCCD Secretariat was requested to continue collaboration with WOCAT to facilitate exchange of SLM knowledge.
In the UNCCD PRAIS 4 reporting, under Strategic Objective 1, Parties are invited to share their SLM best practices reported in the WOCAT Database.
Are you an individual or institution involved in SLM, including restoration, biodiversity conservation and climate change interventions, and have good practices to share? We invite you to contribute and share your knowledge with practitioners and decision-makers worldwide!
Use WOCAT's field questionnaires to capture and assess your practice - focusing on technical, environmental, socio-cultural, and economic aspects - then submit it to the Database for review and publication.

UNCCD Decision 9/COP.15 and 9/COP.16 recommends the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to promote the use of the Database in its programmes and projects.
