The Global SLM Database

About the Database

The WOCAT Global Sustainable Land Management (SLM) Database is the world's leading repository and go-to information hub for documented, field-tested Sustainable Land Management (SLM) practices around the world. It serves as comprehensive global platform enabling practitioners, researchers, policy-makers and institutions to document, share, and scale proven land management solutions.

Global Coverage: Provides free access to over 2,000 documented SLM practices from over 100 countries.

Supporting Action: Supports the design of interventions, evidence-based decision-making, knowledge exchange, and the scaling of proven solutions for restoration, biodiversity conservation and climate change adaptation.

UNCCD-Recognised: Recognised by the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) as the primary database for knowledge exchange on SLM. Through successive COP decisions, the UNCCD has encouraged contributions to the database and promoted its use in Global Environment Facility (GEF) programmes and projects.

Benefits of contributing

Officially recognized by

unccd_blueonwhite

Since 2014, the Global SLM Database has been recognized by the UNCCD as the primary recommended database for sharing knowledge and best practices on SLM (Decision 17/COP.11). This recognition has been reaffirmed through Decision 19/COP.14, Decisions 11 and 19/ COP.15 and Decision 18/COP.16, which encourage Parties to contribute good practices and support continued collaboration between the UNCCD Secretariat and WOCAT.
